Dr. Fernanda Bernardes was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She graduated from Veterinary School in 2019 at the Federal University of Pampa in Brazil, and at Santa Cruz State University-Brazil she completed her master's in Animal Science in 2022 and is currently finishing her PhD, also in Animal Science. In January 2024 she joined the PetVets team in a Veterinary Resident role while preparing to become a licensed veterinarian in the United States.
She lives in Chicago with her husband and two pets: A tabby kitty named Zoe and a fluffy white cat named Lua - which means moon in Portuguese! When she is not at PetVets, she is working with conservation of maned sloths, the only sloth threatened by extinction in her home country! Or... she is on a SoulCycle bike or skating in an ice rink (at least trying to!).
